Our members bring together a multiracial, cross-class movement into a political home led by people of color and working people. We vote together, we take action together, we build our leadership together, and we fund our movement together. Our three criteria for membership are:
- Agree with our vision of a Durham with homes, education, economy, sanctuary, and democracy for all.
- Live, work, organize or study in Durham County
- Pay membership dues.

We ask our members to pay dues by making a personally significant financial contribution each calendar year. Depending on our income, wealth, and class status, this will look different for each of us. Some members pay dues of $3/month, others $10/month and others $50/month. Some of our poor and working-class members pay dues of $3/year. Some of our upper and owning-class members pay dues of $5,000, $10,000 or more each year.
If you are a new member this calendar year and you know you already paid dues in this calendar year, instead of using the form below, complete this member confirmation form. If you want to contribute financially without becoming a member, you can make a donation at our donate page.
Durham For All is a chapter of Carolina Federation, a 501(c)(4) organization. Dues and donations are not tax deductible. If you have any questions about membership, email [email protected].
Why do we require demographic information in our membership form? Collecting this info helps our organization better understand who our members are and where our membership needs to grow. It’s a way for us to live into our mission of building a multiracial, cross-class political movement led by people of color and working people!
To pay member dues by check, write the check to Carolina Federation, put Durham for All dues in the memo line, and mail to:

Why dues? Our goal is to grow into a fully member-funded organization. Being member-funded means that our work and our strategies won’t be controlled or restricted by grant requirements from large foundations. Instead, our members take ownership over our movement and responsibility for sustaining its growth. We believe this is the most accountable, sustainable, transparent and transformative model to build political power for our people.
The majority of our budget comes from individual contributions and goes towards grassroots organizing and leadership development within working-class and people-of-color communities.
